Hualamo is a Chilean company specialized in birdwatching and natural history tours.
Hualamo`s staff includes professionals who seek the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of birds. Through specialized ecotourism we want to stimulate the interest in Chilean wildlife and the respect for its environment.
Our tour leaders are skilled and experienced professionals who have been living and birding in their respective regions for years.
Guides
Jorge Ruiz has been birding since the age of ten. He is a veterinarian and ornithologist who has dedicated a great part of his life to the study and
conservation of birds, particularly waterfowl and raptors. Jorge is a skilled
artist who has illustrated numerous posters, field guides and books. He is also
one of the authors and the main illustrator of the forthcoming “Field Guide to
the Birds of Chile”. Jorge has participated on several conservation projects,
most of them dealing with wildlife in southern Chile such as Feral Mink,
Southern River Otter, Red-legged Cormorant, Rufous-legged Owl and raptor
species. Jorge is founder member of Hualamo and is the tour leader for Southern

Marcelo Flores is a marine biologist specialized in birds and marine mammals. For the last 6 years he has participated in several conservation and research projects in different places of Chile involving species such as Black-browed Albatrosses, Antartic penguins, Sperm Whales and Chilean dolphins. Currently he's studying a PhD at the Universidad Austral de Chile in Valdivia. Marcelo is also a skilled wildlife photographer.
